Looks good man! You should bend the front flare some more to line up with the wheel wells though, what material are they made of?

S12 DrifterJul 9, 2007, 3:34 pm · #3

FRP...  Yeah im going to reposition the front as best as possible they have some flex but not much too em...  The s13 has wider arches so they dont line up the best...  Hard part is is that I cant get them off cause once I start to drill out the pop rivets they just want to push through the flare which is not what im going for...  thankfully they dont cost too much to buy new ones

NamelessJul 9, 2007, 4:09 pm · #4

So here is the current state of the car...

Taking it out to replace the rod bearings.  I thought that maybe I could do it with the engine in the car but that was a stupid thing to think!  While I have it out im going to drop some solid motor mounts in and change some other shit.

On the bright side I got some more goodies for it...

Megan street coilovers and I need to find some good brake upgrades that will fit inside of a 15" wheel and im ordering some brembos next friday along with whiteline sway bars anf spacers for the front.

Brand new sparco sprint 5...  Perfect fit for my skinny ass!  It comes with the crotch belt insert to that previous sprints didnt come with (probably end up throwing this in the passenger seat and buy an Evo.

asparagusJul 27, 2007, 6:13 pm · #16

Woo! nice couple of things you got there dude! Looks like you're in for some fun haha  I really like the seat, I'm picking up a couple seats myself come this monday.

S12 DrifterWhile I have it out im going to drop some solid motor mounts

Solid motor mounts?  Do you literally mean a welded up motor mount with no insulation at all?  Or is it some kind of poly kit or something?  I'm curious.  I hate how much my engine torques around.

Btw your's is my fav car on club-s12.  Mine is eventually gonna end up being almost a copy of what yours is right now.  Just cause I love the style so much.  Loooove the flares.
S12 DrifterAug 1, 2007, 1:04 am · #18

So it turns out it was not my rod bearings but imma replace them anyway.  It was the one of my main bearings it turned out.  You cant see that much in the pic but you get the picture.  Very light scoring on the crank with little to no clearance change so I caught it just in time before it got worse!

****MODS PLEASE MOVE TO GARAGE FORUM****
I will use this as my build thread from here on out

S12 DrifterAnd on the mounts im using urethane hockey puck style mounts

LOL just searched the forum for "hockey puck".  Didn't realize you could use hockey pucks and bolts to make motor mounts.  Are there poly inserts suitable out there or do I need to make a trip to the sporting goods store?

hockey puck style means they are the type that are round not actually hockey pucks
but you probably could use hockey pucks

I'm making some with actual hockey pucks, It's an old hot rod trick.
S12 DrifterAug 2, 2007, 1:40 am · #24

Thats the reason i said "hockey puck style"  guys with old hot rods and rat rods used to do it...   I have heard some people refer to drift cars as the new rat rods actually....   Lol!

Sold the S12?

S12 DrifterAug 20, 2007, 12:08 am · #29

No I did not turn my back on the nissans!   I am still in the rebuild process on the s12...  Its just going slow with my shedule of work and school.

S12 DrifterSep 9, 2007, 11:26 pm · #30

So I just finished scraping all the sound deadening tar shit off the floor today and started on moving all the wiring from the engine bay to behind the dash.  In the process of looking for a s13 dash and some side skirts and rear bumper...   As far as the motor goes I got the crank out and im bringing it in to get polished and balanced.  Gonna replace the oil pump, water pump and timing belt while I am at it.  I thought of a cool paint scheme for the timing and valve covers so I will post pics of that when done.

Just picked up a bunch of parts off my buddies s13 that we parted out as well including some suspension work and turbo timer

Liking the car mang.

This is my favourite american 12

Update...  Kinda...

The S12 projected has been suspended for a short period of time.  The S12 is by no means a daily driver therefore it does not require my full attention, it is just a fun race/drift project for track only.  I dont have alot of time right now due to the fact that im in school during the days and working 60 hours a week on nights.   Also cause I have been dumping alot of money into my Audi lately! Lol.   However I still have many plans and dreams for the S12 so hopefully soon I can get back to work on it.   That being said I wont be on the boards very much.   Soon I will be back though!
