What\'s up, fellow S12 people? I\'ve been asked to write about my project here several times so here goes...
The plan is to race my S12 Silvia in the Finnish amateur track racing series called Roadsport, in the highest A-class. I\'ve been working on the chassis for a while already, it was first fully stripped into bare metal, platform mass scrubbed off and all sound proofing was taken off the interior. From there the car has been constructed towards being a 100% race car.
The engine is SR20DET with a Turbonetics T3/T4 stage 3 race turbo, the aim is at around 500hp from the flywheel for starters. The suspension is a custom made Bilstein, coil over type. S13 rear subframe conversion should make the car a bit more competitive on track, all control arms are made from scratch with adjustable uniball joints.

I\'ve got a better and more complete write up on my website at [URL=http://www.racesilvia.com]racesilvia.com[/a] with lots of pics, I try and update whenever something worthwhile occurs.
My little race project
f$cking rad!!! keep us informed
Wow, I\'ve never seen a S12 upside down with it\'s bare chassis like that before... Good Luck with the Race, I would like to see video footage of this too!
I also like the Concept:
wow. upside down s12 = the shizit only in that context
Good luck on the project man.......
holy shit
pics of your car were posted in the suspension forum awhile back, showing off your rear s13 suspension conversion. you\'re one crazy dude! car\'s looking pretty sweet though Smiley

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone!

Oh, it\'s that famous already, huh? It was indeed quite a job with the rear subframe conversion, if someone\'s looking to do it with non-solid bushings it\'s going to be even harder.
I\'m making the roll cage at the moment, the main bar is finished already. The engine block is being measured by a local work shop and after that, an order of engine internals goes off to JUN. I\'m also using the full JUN cylinder head kit with solid lifters.
Huge amount of new pics in my camera to edit and put to the Internet, hopefully I\'ll have the time to update the whole write up and add the new pics tomorrow.
Wow... I\'ve never seen a S12 nor a car torn down to that condition. Wow. That\'s amazing. Good luck. I\'d love to see this project thru all it\'s stages. Good luck and best wishes.
:yikes: reminds me of that hawaiian roast pig luau after I went through it a couple of times.
\"Now we\'re going to the huki luau huki huki huki huki huki luau... \"
Picture gallery updated! Direct link to pictures.[/a] Look forward to an update for the write up very soon, too.
All I have to say is WOW!!
Definetly an inspiration for all of us S12ers! Keep up the good work!!
Okay, I\'ve employed myself full-time with the car now that I have some holidays from school. I\'m getting up at 8AM every morning and get home to sleep at night, in the between I\'m working on the project. The roll-cage\'s almost ready, interior stuff is waiting. The suspension is under work at Rallysystems, getting it after Christmas. The steering parts need to be fitted into the crossmember, a bit tricky but should turn out all right. Don\'t have much time to update the write up right now, but I\'ll try and get it done some day, too. Damn, the spring is closing up fast..!
Finally I got my hands on the new suspension! The control arms are under construction already, just need a few liners from the worh shop and then welding the parts together. A couple of pics of the suspension:

Wow! Who made those coilovers? And if we can get them, how much would they cost?
Wow! Who made those coilovers? And if we can get them, how much would they cost?
They were made by a Finnish suspension specialist Rallysystems from Bilstein parts. The prices were around 1100€ per corner for front and a little less for the rear. That\'s roughly usd 1330.
wow, I can\'t wait til this thing is finished...hopefully you can make a name for the S12...
The WHOLE S12 community is counting on you to do so!...no pressure though heh... Cheesy
Thats pretty crazy ill be keepin my eye on your project.
Hmm.. Mysteriously most of my posts from the topic seem to have disappeared... :???: Well, I quess it\'s still ok to post some more?
Went for the Hestec engine management system, got lots of nice features like anti-lag, dual boost maps controlled via a switch etc. They\'ve done SR-engines before so all sensors and stuff are available from them.

The desired style is coming more visible on the rear fenders, didn\'t just settle with the 80\'s look this time Smiley

The pipes seem to be desperately looking for a turbo in there...
