Hey guys, this thread got started on carolinanissans.com, I thought it was cool so I'm starting one here too. So what other "old skool" (like '80s or even '70s) import cars do you think are cool? Pick as many cars as you want and post pics if you have or can find them!
Besides #1. S12, of course, I'd have to say:
2. S110 (1980-83 200SX)
3.280ZX
4. Mk II Supra
5. 1st-gen Celica fastback
6. 82-83 Celica (love the stare-at-the-sky headlights)
7. AE86
8. TE 55 Corolla hatchback and LiftBack (77-79?)
9. Z31 300ZX
10. 1st-Gen. (79-82) Prelude
11. Datsun 210
12. 1st-Gen. RX-7
So, with the exception of the 'Lude, anything that's a RWD hatchback I guess!
And now for pics:
Here's an S110 200SX, this one's an '82:
I owned one just like it as my first car, mine was pretty rusty though.
There's a bunch more S110 pics here.
And if you want to go even earlier than '80s, my Dad had one of these from 1978 to about 1992:
1978 Corolla (TE55) Liftback .... I would love to get my hands on one of these to restore it, there's still some around, I saw a white one the other day.
And how's this for old-skool? A JDM TE-55 Levin hatchback!
And a side shot of a JDM TE-55 hatchback:
Oh and here's a first-generation Prelude if you've never seen one:
Here's a 1974 Datsun B210 ad:
And if you need a really good laugh, this mid-'70s "Datsunworld" ad is too big to post but here's a link:
http://www.v6-s12.com/Linked_Images/Posts/ClassicImports/Datsunworld1.jpg
Check out the clothes!
I've actually thought of starting an online club for enthusiasts of '80s imports, to try and get owners of all these great cars together. I don't know if there would be any interest or not, since many of the models already have their own clubs.

The later ones arent really considered too old school yet but the line started in 1985: MK2 Golf/Gti, best handling/most reliable VW.

Turbo impulse. Had one, no thanks, too damn expensive. It lasted one week and died. I still have the turbo though.
It's really sad when you can get parts easier and cheaper for an Alfa Romeo than for an Isuzu.
I will post mine later. With pics,I hope.

K ... I'm in love with most of the cars posted here, as well as the 1st Gen Prelude. Not that I really feel it has any redeeming qualities, just a friend of mine had one in high school, and I have a lot of fond memories of painting it white - with housepaint and rollers.
I too like the Opel Manta, but I gotta go further back in time than Dan.
And another oddball, the VW Fastback
The first DSM ... the 75 Plymouth Cricket, Canadian issue only (the US Crickets were Hillmans, not mitsubishis)
The LeMans Sunbeam Tiger

Thanks for reminding me, Matt, I forgot one, a cool hatchback, one of the numerous Mitsubishis sold in the States under a Chrysler name, (i.e. Conquest), the 1977-82 Plymouth Arrow:
Or as seen in a late-'70s ad:
What's even funnier, I'm pretty sure the same car was sold in Australia as the Chrysler Lancer! Were they just trading nameplates like baseball cards?
Thanks to arrow80 from Houston, TX for these pics which I "ninja'd" from his Cardomain page.

Speaking of insane Mitsu/Chrysler combo cars, what about the Chrysler Challenger from the late 70's, early 80's.
It was rear wheel drive and used an older, weaker version of the 4G63 (Talon/Eclipse engine) for the powerplant, so people are starting to do rear wheel drive turbo swaps in them.

Yeah that was the Dodge Challenger here in the States, also sold as the Plymouth Sapporo. (Which is the same name as the most popular beer in Japan.) Cool cars, but as Mr. 200 will attest, they were not fit to carry the Challenger name, not when compared to the original 1970-74 Dodge Challenger.
Oh and Raguel that blue car is actually the Chrysler Conquest variant. Only way you can tell is no Mitsu badge and the Starion didn't use the TSi designation, I dont' think.

Dan, my family owns a 1979 Chrysler/Mistubishi Scorpion. Purchased off the showroom floor & has done all of about 20,000km since. In very good nick aside from gummed up fuel lines, smokey (from not doing enough k's) & powerdering paint (despite being garaged all of it's life & washed often).

But, before I start, I have been drinking beer for 8 1/2 hours steady now. And I can still type icon_eek.gif icon_twisted.gif
356 nice cars, hotrodded vw though
944 Porsche's idea of what the 924 should have been. 924 was an Audi
Esprit nice
Lotus 7 That guy is twisted! Has he made 200 of those yet?
E-Type Which one?
MR2 X1/9 wanta be
Quattro nough said
vettes should of listed up to the 70 model with the LS6. The L88 is one wicked beast though.
Ferrari 275 depends on which one. Beautiful cars, I think the Lusso is the prettiest (spelling) though
80-s Testarossa naw, the 50-s testarossa 'a manly mans car' Don't forget that the Shelby cobra was built as a spin-off to that car. Cobra= Bristol Ace with a tuned Ford engine.
GT40 Kicked Ferrari's ass!!!
Contach would rather have a Muira SV
Diablo would rather have a Muira SV
Delta S4 wild engine but never came to the states, legally
300SL Roadster nice but would rather have the gullwing instead.
