i found this on a fiero site..i think it wold be cool
on our cars....it would also let more air into the engine compartment.....also a neat headlight mod....

http://www.mindspring.com/~martinwhite/fiero/hood.html

what do you guys think...it wouldnt be that hard on our cars..we atleast have metal hoods...fieros are all plastic composite...

I made a scoop up in glass and added a screen vent where the sticker is, it is just a slot around 20mm high and i can't say it makes much difference, i did it manly for weight as the std scoop was 9kg, the glass one is 4kg. It was also full of bog.

some pics here, but not very close shots,

I have Proflex (made in AU) coil overs with remote gas canisters with adjustable bump and rebound on the front, std type shocks on the rear with RSX springs (260lbs) I have totally replaced all the front control arms and made up chromoly tube with rose joints with alloy steering arms, to shorten the steering ratio down to 2.5 turns lock to lock, also make the roll center adjustable along with steering arms which i have got rid of all bump steer.

I have some pics of that but not on the web, if someone can post them here i can email them?

ok icon_smile.gif

FJ20 turbo engine is the base, has a welded crank and stroked to FJ24 stroke, + 2mm bore and this ends up 2.270 odd i think, it has forged pistons and runs 11.4:1, cams are Wade cams 310deg Ex 290 deg IN, fj24 valve springs, all my own porting, quad throttle bodies with 46mm runners and 48mm butterflies with half shaft for better area, runs std turbo injectors, has a plenium box i made with the quad trumpets inside with a remote K&N fiter in a box sucking cold air. ECU is Autronics SMC 1.1( very old) extractors are 1 7/8 primaries into 2" secondaries using true merge collectors, then into a 2.5" exhaust. It runs on Our pump fuel which is 98RON, It spins to 8000rpm with good power from 5300-7800.

geoffdonkDec 12, 2003, 7:49 pm · #15

True. Seems like a pretty simple shape to weld up though. Hmmmm, I might try to fab one up next time I have access to a nice wire feed.

geoffdonkDec 12, 2003, 7:52 pm · #17

fab one up, skillz. I know jack all about metal working.

heh I'll probably end up with some kind of bizzaro world scoop with 20 different angles and slag everywhere. icon_lol.gif

Philipn126Dec 13, 2003, 6:18 pm · #19

the z scoops are on the drivers side and they have a slant to them. i moved mine to the other side so that it would be functional with my intake. but i never did get the balls to cut into the hood so the scoop is sitting in my closet.
