I think it was July 16th 2002 that the forum was started up, and well, it's now July 19th 2003, so I just wanted to say it's been a great first year...I hope for many many more! icon_cool.gif

I have to say that when we were first talking about starting this thing back on the Yahoo group I never expected it to get this big.
Remember when there was just a handful of us? Remember when the running joke was Arro's lack of an S12? He would dispense all this great advice and then mention that he still didn't have a 200.. icon_lol.gif

I dunno though ... this site is great, I'll never say otherwise. But I have to say I've noticed a huge drop off in the number of replies and posts on a day to day basis. When I first joined, I could waste half a day just surfing through new or replied to posts. In the past month, I can go through them in 30 minutes. Guess everyone is just out driving their cars ... :p

The drop off in replies could be down to the fact that most of the problems that come up have been answered before somwhere on the site. You can only expect people to write out explanations to the same problems so many times before they cant be bothered any more.

Im not having a go or anything about people not using the search function as I have tried to use it a few times without much luck.

The Yahoo group dosent (or didnt is it still there?) even compare to this site. It is much easier and quicker to find information here.

I believe it was a guy named Jason who had a blue '83 S110. He had a site for it, but it seems to be gone. I know last time I saw his site it said the car had been hit by a truck or something and he'd given it to a friend who was going to try and rebuild it. That was about 3 years ago.
If I'm not mistaken, ownership of the group has passed through a couple pairs of hands since then, and Shaun Patten seems to be running things now (Shaunp38). He never seems to be here anymore, he doesn't have his S12 anymore, but he's still running that group last time I checked.
I first discovered the Classic 200SX Yahoo group in 2000, soon after I moved to North Carolina and started itching to get rid of my Dakota. I started looking around for an 82 or 83 S110, and that's when I started reading the yahoo group. I couldn't locate an S110, and I drifted away for awhile, until my search re-started in the spring of 2001, this time for an S12, or if I couldn't find one a pre-'86 Celica or Supra. Once I got my SE in May of '01, I was pretty active there until the advent of the forum.

ive learned more in the last month about s12's than i have ever known about ANY car in my whole life time. With your help, i have successufully taken apart 2 s12's and made one hell of a turbo ca20et with a t25 that freaking screams like a bottle rocket but sounds awsome. Your tips and tricks and suggestions have helped even people who arent members of this site, but have just been brousing. I congratulate every member of the forums who have contributed in not only the ca20 forums, but the ca18, vg, fj, wheel/suspension, and all the other categories. We have all learned a lot and we all have some pretty spiffy cars. I got a suggestion. We need to make a forum dedicated to the pictures of you with your car(s) <---cause some of us have more than one icon_smile.gif Not many ppl are posting them on the front pictures forum. Again, Happy Birthday, and thank you to all the ppl who admin/help on these forums. YOU GUYS ROCK !!!

I agree with matt and bart that there has been a drop off of sorts in the forum as of late. I think there has just been a changing of the guard as far as forum topis go. It seems like there is less development, design, etc going on in the forums and alot more trouble shooting. Which is a fine change, but I think it leads to less posting. I think there are some pretty exciting things on the horizon (teehee) but for the most part the majority of the forum is just devoted to fixing a member's problems.

I have only visited the yahoo group a few times, I found this site soon after it started and just read around for awhile before I joined. Now I try to check it about 10 times a day to try to make sure I havent missed something I can help with, etc, etc. I think the forum as a whole is pretty sweet, but as more people hit the track, get slips, there will be more competition between members. Then we can make up an ET list and have some true drive to make the forum even faster as a whole. I suggest drag slips over road race times because of the universal nature of a drag strip, etc, etc. I just believe as more people hit the track with their car (as I will in the first semester to see just how slow my CA20E is) the forum will start to change back into the development palace it once was. I know sterling and bart are working on t3 setups and I know of a few other projects that should put down some big power, but all of it is moot without some sort of measuring stick. so as I climb down from my soapbox, go to the track; get a number, put it in your sig (right below your name of course) and watch the forum grow.
