My chiltion's has seperate ECU procedures for each engine, but no differentiation by year......Overall it's not that impressive a book. I wish Haynes made one for our cars. They make one for the S110, I have a copy.

I get most of my stuff for diagnosis from the MICHELL manual in the refernece section of the libray. I have been told by many people that these books are very good and accurate. I looked at the 84,85,86,87, and 88 models in these books and it seem that the non-turbo model didn't have any or only slight changes on how to use the diagnosis system on the ECU. But the turbo models procedure was changed almost every year, (years 87-88 no change if I remember right). Please note that the 87-88 model ECU's have 5 different modes on the ECU and 84-86 model years have only two (on and off). And between years 84-86 the procedure changes too. Now the 87-88 years seem to be way more advanced then the 84-86 years. I didn't read that much into it but WOW. mode 1 is used for regular driving and stuff, mode 2 is used to detremine problems with the closed loop system( while the car is not in closed loop) and the most intersing is mode 5. It gives readings of trouble codes on those two little lights While driving!!! That's right.
So finding that intermitent problem becomes way more easier. So, go and check the your local libray for more info.

OK, I updated the Tech Articles section tonight. The links under the "Performance" heading now work. I really don't have any FAQ's written up so I don't have anything to link to yet, but if you click on the VG30E section you can see what I plan for it to look like eventually.

A camera icon will be placed next to the links to indicate that it's a Visual FAQ (includes pictures). No camera will be seen if it's just a text explanation.

I'm hoping to have at least one article underneath all of those headings - I just need you guys to start taking pictures, writing instructions and firing them off to me. I'll get them up asap.

Sounds good, I'll be setting up many different FSM scans which can be integrated into the tech articles.

Someone have an interest in a specific article that might not require pictures?

BTW, let's try to nail down some info right here in this thread:

OK, what transmissions were available in what year/trim car?

I'm looking for:

- Part number
- Year of car in which it was available in
- Was it from an S12 or froma Z31 or even something else?
- Manual or Auto? WHich shifter, linkeage, etc.

as well as:

What rear ends were available in what year/trim car?

- part number
- Year of car in which it was available
- Was it from an S12 or from a Z31 or even something else?
- Was it Solid Axle or IRS?

If you guys can nail all these details down in this thread, I'll get it all in a document to place in the Tech Files icon_smile.gif
